This year, the season will seem even brighter as ConAgra Foods® invites you to help us "Shine the Light on Hunger." We created this campaign to draw attention to the issue of hunger, which affects more than 71,000 children throughout Nebraska and 120,000 children in Iowa (source: Child Food Insecurity in the United States: 2003-2005). ConAgra Foods encourages our community to come together to fight hunger and its effects.
As the focal point of this campaign, ConAgra Foods invites the community to visit our holiday ice skating rink on the ConAgra Foods campus at the corner of 10th and Harney Streets. In addition, we encourage you to drop off nonperishable goods and household items at the ice skating rink as well as at other locations throughout the festival.
The ConAgra Foods Ice Skating Rink
When: December 1 to December 16
Hours: Sunday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to midnight
Where: Corner of 10th Street and Harney Street, Omaha
Admission: $5 (skate rental included)
All proceeds to benefit the Nebraska Food Bank Network.
OTHER SHINE THE LIGHT EVENTS
Tree Lighting at the Gene Leahy Mall
When: November 22
Hours: Pre-Show entertainment 5:35 p.m., lighting ceremony at 6 p.m.
Where: 1302 Farnam on the Mall, Omaha
Purchase "Shine the Light on Hunger" pins and light-up wands.
Proceeds benefit the Nebraska Food Bank Network.
Christmas at Union Station
When: Starts November 23 with the Tree Lighting
Hours: Tree Lighting is 4 to 7 p.m.
Where: Durham Western Heritage Museum, 801 S. 10th Street, Omaha
"You Can Make a Difference" Food Drive starts at November 23 at the Tree Lighting.
Christmas with the Symphony
When: December 14 to 16
Where: Holland Performing Arts Center
